Sony executives predicted solid holiday sales, driven by high-definition electronics and bet-ter-than-expected retail performance. "We're anticipating an extremely strong holiday season," Stan Glasgow, president and COO of Sony Electronics said, adding that many dealers are re-forecasting holiday sales figures that are better than originally predicted. A bulk of the sales will be fueled by the company's recently launched HDNA marketing campaign, which focuses on high-definition electronics sold as a full solution, Glasgow said. The campaign follows a similar one the company launched earlier this year on digital imaging solutions, which Glasgow attributed to growing the segment more than 35 percent during the second quarter.
