Kerry chief defends processing involvement

The head of the Kerry group, Stan McCarthy, has defended the group's continuing involvement in dairy processing - the base from which Kerry grew into a global business employing more than 23 000 people. Despite that track record the management of the business is still based where it began in County Kerry, and McCarthy told delegates at a Dublin business conference that while 70% of its business was now in ingredients and flavourings its dairy and food processing operations remained profitable.
