Good times roll again

There was good news for drinking milk producers at this year's Anuga food fair in Germany: there appears to be a levelling off of the long downward trend in continental European sales. Gunnar Meyer from Germany's Campina noted: "Yes, the liquid market here is steadying now - at perhaps just over 80 litres per head in 1998. Consumption was the same the year before and it certainly won't be any worse this year." In fact, as we shall see later, Meyer was celebrating a 7.5% rise in sales of his company's Landliebe liquid milk products.
