A rattling rate of innovation is driving the UK yogurt and dairy desserts market. The UK has one of the highest growth rates in the European yogurt and chilled desserts sector. In Britain over the last five years these categories have grown at an average annual rate of 4.2% and 7.5% respectively - compared with a European average of 1.9% and 2.4%. Driving this growth is a rapid pace of innovation. Yogurt and chilled dessert manufacturers are persuading consumers to increase their consumption of dairy items by offering them a multitude of products that suit a range of needs, from snacks to special occasions. Moreover, processors in both categories have been able capitalise simultaneously on polarising trends towards both health and indulgence.
