WTO - another deadline missed

Discussions under the World Trade Organization's (WTO) Doha development agenda have been dogged with difficulties. No round on liberalising trade has been easy and this is no exception. It is regrettable though that yet another self-imposed deadline of the end of April 2006 has been missed. This deadline was announced at the Ministerial meeting in Hong Kong last December. The negotiations that were launched in Doha in November 2001 are still not near a conclusion and there are sizeable differences between the negotiating parties.
