Fifty-two more redundancies have been announced at First Milk's cheese Maelor packing site in Wrexham, North Wales. The latest job losses come on top of 93 redundancies at the same site back in November. In a statement, the Scottish-based company says the latest job losses will come as a result of changes to cheese supply contracts. "Since announcing the news of contract changes to our workforce in January, we have been working through the implications of how we operate at Maelor," says Chris Palmer, general manager at the Maelor site. "Having now done some detailed analysis, we believe that we will potentially require a smaller number of people to pack cheese as a result of reduced volumes.
