Improving quality, dairy contracts and a sustainable future

An Italian sheep's cheese, Piacentinu Ennase, has beome the 1,OOOth name to be registered under the European Union's agricultural product and foodstuff quality labels. The European scheme, created in 1992, allows for quality agricultural goods produced in the EU to be registered so quality can be recognised and upheld. Of this milestone being reached, Dacian Gobs, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development says, "The one 1,000th name registered is a significant milestone for the quality schemes. There is still great potential for these schemes that give visibility to Europe's quality products and valorise agricultural traditions and rural heritage."
