Dairy Fruit, a supplier of aseptic flavoured fruit preparations for the food industry, recently introduced PPS food grade, reusable plastic trays to its supply chain. Crispin Gell, sales director of Dairy Fruit says, "It was decided to source a food grade rentable plastic tray system that offered stability and security when delivering products. We had to look at heath and safety laws, taking into account maximum handling weights both within our facility and our customers. We also wanted someone to collect the empty trays from our customers' facilities. These reusable plastic trays would then be washed before being returned to Dairy Fruit. We also had to consider the cost of switching from the current cardboard packaging to a returnable tray system.
