What a difference a few years makes. China's largest dairy company, Yili, moved into the top five ranking of the annual Rabobank Global Top 20 Dairy report this year, with year-on-year growth of nearly 20 per cent, due in part to its acquisition of the New Zealand-based Westland co-operative. Climbing three steps up from eighth place in 2019, Yili has joined the ranks of the global top five dairy brands in the world and continues to strengthen its number one position among Asian dairy producers, the company says. The report is a survey of the world's largest dairy companies and highlights the giants of one of the world's most valuable food sectors. Zhang Yipeng, vice president of Yili Group, spoke with Dairy Industries International about the company's rise and the trends it sees globally.
