Plastic packaging may be ubiquitous in the dairy industry today, but the way it is used is undergoing fundamental and rapid change. Dairy UK, the voice of the UK industry, says the sector as a whole has committed to eliminating unnecessary single-use plastic by 2025. Plastic bottles of the type commonly used for fresh milk are also among the most commonly recycled items in the UK, with 76 per cent of them recycled, according to the Waste and Resources Action Programme.
