The expression of the δ1- and δ3-cyclin genes in the cells of the root meristem of the pea plant (Pisum sativum L.) is demonstrated by means of in situ hybridization under conditions of a slowly rotating horizontal clinostat and under stationary growing conditions. Data on the expression of the δ-cyclin genes in the root meristem of the pea plant under the conditions of a rotating clinostat have not been previously obtained. The influence of clinostating on the expression of these genes on different stages of development of the root of the pea plant is presented. The delay in the degradation of cyclin subunits in clinostating is a factor responsible for prolongation of the G_1 phase under these conditions, which in turn leads to a delay in seed cloning and may also explain the increase in the length of the cell cycle.
