The ever-increasing diffusion in modem construction of curtain wall systems has led to the demand from designers of the most bold and characteristic design solutions not only for architectural aspects but also related to performances and construction systems. The facades have become to all intents and purposes essential components of building construction, they are no longer simple envelope or independent enclosures but become an integral part of the building integrating the architecture together with the structure and, above all, involving both passive and active plant building. To the continuous facades, therefore, is now required a role that no longer only suits the architectural aspect of the building but faces and meets all applicable possible technological solutions. This request is made possible through specific knowledge of construction systems, materials, production and installation techniques, as well as with the use of dedicated software that optimizes architectural and constructive solutions. Facade technology today enables the achieving of building envelopes with different characteristics and performances ranging from the classic curtain wall to the double skin facade ventilated and active, to the breathing facades and the CCF facades.%La diffusione sempre più importante nell'edilizia attuale delle facciate continue, o curtain wall, ha portato alla richiesta da parte dei progettisti di soluzioni costruttive più ardite e caratterizzanti non solo per gli aspetti architettonici ma anche per quelli prestazionali e per i sistemi costruttivi. Le facciate sono quindi diventate a tutti gli effetti componenti essenziali della costruzione: non sono più dei semplici involucri o chiusure indipendenti ma diventano parte integrante dell'edificio, unendo l'architettura con la struttura e soprattutto coinvolgendo l'impiantistica sia passiva che attiva. Alle facciate continue quindi viene ora richiesto un ruolo che non soddisfi più il solo aspetto architettonico dell'edificio ma affronti e soddisfi tutte le possibili soluzioni tecnologiche applicabili. Questa richiesta si rende possibile attraverso specifiche conoscenze dei sistemi costruttivi, dei materiali, delle tecniche di produzione e posa in opera, oltre che dell'impiego di software dedicati che ottimizzino le soluzioni architettoniche in armonia con quelle costruttive. La tecnologia delle facciate consente oggi di realizzare involucri con differenti caratteristiche e prestazioni che passano dalla classica facciata continua alle facciate a doppia pelle ventilate e attive, alle facciate respiranti per arrivare alle facciate CCF.
