Let's kick off this merry, merry month with a few shortwave-lets: - There is word of yet another missionary station coming on the air in the United States. International Missions Fellowship reported that it is busy building a new network of mediumwave and international shortwave stations. The group has purchased property near Battle Mountain, Nevada, where it is planning to build "a powerful shortwave station" to reach Mexico and Asia. It also claims the world has more than 1 billion shortwave receivers. Apparently that number is not high enough because the group also hopes to provide people with solar-powered, fixed-tuned, receivers ... some of them dropped from aircraft. This is pure grain of salt territory: The outfit has already filed for an FCC license with the possible callsign of KIMF.
