First Look: HF Signals μBITX Multiband QRP Transceiver

If you're already a QRP, or low-power, enthusiast, then you probably have already heard about the BITX40 transceiver from HF Signals in India. The BITX40 is a 7-watt, 40-meter SSB transceiver with VFO control and an LCD display as a semi-kit for under $60 (U.S.). I say "semi-kit" because all of the PC board components are installed at the factory, leaving you to configure the off-board controls (e.g., volume, tuning, etc.) as you see fit. I bought one and was stunned by its performance. The rig, designed by Ashhar Farhan, is Open Source, and an active community is encouraged to expand and modify the rig. I remember wondering to myself how important this rig could be in terms of expanding the base of those who enjoy our hobby.
