The current status of the sewer systems in the federal Republic of Germany results of a 1997 ATV survey

For quite some time already, people have discussed to what extent sewer rehabilitation measures are required. Great attention was given to the two ATV surveys on the Status of sewer systems that were undertaken in 1984/85 [2] and in 1990 [3]. Last year, ATV did a third survey, the re- sults of which now allow for a more precise assessment of the current status of the sewer system in Germany. It also shows the development of sewer conditions as well as the investment of local communities in sewer repair and re- placement over the last few years.
