Since they are very reliable and require little maintenance, surface aerators are an excellent and efficient source of oxygen supply for different biological wastewater treatment processes. Nevertheless, they have been rarely used in recent years. This article contains experiences we have gained and new insights into this subject and may trigger off some critical discussions.
