The Swedish political party which won a seat in the European parliament on a platform of free internet downloads and file-sharing has announced it will stand in UK's general elections in 2010. The Pirate Party says it wants to reform copyright and patent law as well as encourage peer-to-peer file sharing technology. It became an officially registered party in the UK on 30 June and now aims to recruit members and raise funds in order to contest the next general election, due to take place before June next year.
