Metal carbonyl cations: generation, characterization and catalytic application

There has been a rapid development in the study of metal carbonyl cations, which exhibit distinguishing characteristics in comparison with typical metal carbonyl complexes. This review article gives an overview of the generation, spectroscopic characterization and catalytic application of this new class of metal carbonyls, including the metal carbonyl cluster cations.
