Highways term maintenance contracts are notorious for potential inefficiencies resulting from the requirement to manage works orders between client and contractor, in many case involving huge amounts of data transfer resulting in duplication and wastage. Causeway's involvement in highways maintenance management was initiated in 1998 when Causeway were appointed to develop a works order management system for the Highways Agency Area 8 Trunk Road Maintenance Contract. Since this first engagement the product has continued to develop with the addition of many new customers to the point of where it has become the works order management system of choice for highways maintenance projects. It has managed the maintenance of approximately 80% of the UK Trunk Road network (incorporating niche requirements such as Annex 5 reporting) as well as North East & South East Scotland Trunk Road contracts, TfL contracts and numerous local authority contracts.
