A year of discussion, debate and close listening have seen real progress achieved by the NFDC, and a feeling that everyone is moving in the same direction in order to achieve the same goals. It might sound like an everyday sort of achievement for an industry-leading organisation, but John Wring, who is now in his second year of being president, believes it is a huge step forward. When he took on the task last year, there were several issues that had members' feelings running high - not least the new Accredited Site Audit Scheme. The scheme, which has stirred a lot of controversy at times, was voted through at the March ACM, and is due to come into force at the end of 2008. "I'm very pleased that it has gone through - and even at the time of the AGM, I wasn't sure that we would have enough support in terms of votes to succeed - but we did."
