A climate change for Heathrow Terminal 6

Finally the Government's sums do seem to add up - Runway 3 and Terminal 6 make £9 billion worth of work after its official backing for the Heathrow expansion. Putting aside the complainants who would prefer we all took caravan holidays, the news is an unmitigated joy for the country's construction and engineering industries.rnOf course there is also plenty of bounty from the related road and rail plans (see CN's coverage, page 4-5), particularly the high speed rail link between London and the West Midlands.rnBut it would be wrong to take the massive airport project itself too much for granted. Its continuing momentum will be a measure of economic confidence from this Government and the next one. The Government has been expressing support for a third runway for six years and it's clearly vital that it is not hit by the long delays that bedevilled the early vision of Crossrail.
