Debts reduced as housebuilders look to future

Housebuilders have been consolidating their financial position since the market collapsed, with Barratt Developments, Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey repaying ￡1.3 billion of debt between them over the past year. Recent trading updates ahead of a set of interim and final results suggested the housing market was improving gradually, albeit from a very low base.
