1.There will be £2.69 billion of funding available to rebuild around 100 of the most dilapidated schools in England. 2. The projects will be financed privately through the private finance initiative (PFI). The jobs will be batched in order to make them a size that is attractive to banks and other investors. 3. In keeping with the recommendations of the James Review of school building, procurement is likely to be highly centralised in order to keep to a strict timetable. 4. It is intended that procurement on the first batch of schools will begin by the second quarter of 2012. Work should be complete by the beginning of the school year in 2013.
