Roofing firm faces £23m claim over fire

A Welsh roofing subcontractor is facing a claim for £23 million after a factory it was working on burned down. Central Roofing (South Wales) is being sued by copper piping manufacturer Mueller Europe over the fire at the Bilston, West Midlands site in November 2008. Mueller claims Central Roofing is responsible for the fire that tore through the factory, paralysing its business for weeks.The contractor denies any responsibility for the incident and admits no liability for damages. According to a claim form filed at the High Court, the manufacturer claims Central Roofing failed to take proper precautions while working, which led to the fire.
