The past three years have been one of the toughest eras in the history of JCB,but in a rare interview chairman Sir Anthony Bamford told Construction News that the global manufacturer is emerging strongly from the recession. This week JCB posted results for 2010, which showed profit of £235m with sales up 48 per cent to £2bn. Recently it also announced record quarter numbers both in terms of sales and production. Sir Anthony says of the second quarter: "Volumes are currently higher than they were last year. But it is sensitive. I don't think there has ever been a period where there has been certainty-I am suspicious of long order books because they can disappear just like that."
