Acting as an expert witness in commercial disputes provides a welcome source of income for many professional architects, quantity surveyors and engineers. However in 2011 the Supreme Court ruled on the case of Jones v Kaney and abolished the long standing rule that expert witnesses enjoyed immunity from claims for damages.
