Pudding Mill Lane site to halt during Games

Work at Crossrail's Pudding Mill Lane site will come to a halt between May and September due to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Crossrail will erect hoardings at the site as part of a planned halt to construction work as well as planning its summer work schedule to avoid impact on London roads. The rail body said the decision to close Pudding Mill Lane was agreed 'several years ago' and is factored into the overall construction timetable. Morgan Sindall was awarded the C350 Pudding Mill Lane contract by Crossrail in April 2011 and work involves the construction of a tunnel portal and a new elevated Docklands Light Railway station. A Crossrail site near to the ExCeL centre, which is set to host Olympic events, will also be closed, but barring some isolated days, the remaining central sites will continue as normal.
