FIRST HS2 WORKS PACKAGES REVEALED

High Speed 2 has revealed its initial works packages that will go out to consultation for the £21.4bn first phase of the £42.6bn scheme. The outline strategy divides tunnelling and the surface route into £2.9bn and £2.7bn packages respectively. Early contractor involvement will feature heavily in most packages: design and build is reserved as a possibility for the scheme's railway systems elements alone. The packages are: 1. Tunnelling-£2.9bn split across four main NEC3 packages. 2. Surface route-£2.7bn split across three to six main NEC3 packages. 3. Stations-£2.6bn split across four main NEC3 packages.
