EFA 'will listen' to SMEs for £5bn regional framework

The Education Funding Agency will listen to feedback to make its new £5bn regional schools framework accessible to smaller contractors, its director of capital has told Construction News. Details of the £5bn framework for capital school building projects worth up to £10m were released last month. EFA director of capital Mike Green admitted the £4bn main contractors' framework "is difficult for SMEs to get on to" and said he hoped the regional framework would help "spread the work more fairly". "At the bidders day we said: 'This is what we are proposing, and what do you think? Give us feedback and we will listen, or you will get what we want to give'," Mr Green said. Contractors bidding for the new framework have to have a minimum financial turnover threshold of £25m in each region they bid for.
