Canary Wharf extension gets green light

Construction of a new district to the east of Canary Wharf has been given the green light by London borough Tower Hamlets. Wood Wharf will be a 4.9m sq ft mixed-use development, creating 30 new buildings and 17,000 jobs. Work on the project will begin in Q4 2014, with the first buildings to be occupied by the end of 2018. The development will include 2.6m sq ft of residential units across 3,100 new homes. Housing will be a mix of social, private and intermediate accommodation, with public squares and spaces.
