Rapid repair for storm-ravaged road

A one-in-1,300 year storm event in Cumbria last December presented Highways England with a unique challenge after transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin asked the organisation to repair the badly damaged A591. The route is a Cumbria County Council local road providing a major tourist, commuter, schools and business corridor through the Lake District.
