More than meets the eye: CRE demonstrates its worth

Last week, the BPF launched the most comprehensive examination of commercial real estate (CRE) to date. Commissioned from Toscafund, it revealed some eye-catching figures, not least that CRE represents over a fifth (20.6 per cent) of total net wealth in the UK: £1,662bn. The report also shows that CRE contributed £94.2bn (about 5.4 per cent) to the UK's GDP in 2014 and that construction work between 2002 and 2014 has on average employed 2.1m people (6.8 per cent of the UK's labour force).
