The invention relates to a model for demonstrating the function of an eye, in particular the accommodation of the eye. The model according to the invention is characterised by the provision as crystalline lens of a convex, preferably planoconvex, liquid lens, which is arranged in the beam path between an imaging object and a screen serving as substitute retina and whose curved boundary surface is a transparent elastic membrane skin. This yields the advantage that the refractive properties of the liquid bubble located in the liquid lens can be varied in the simplest way in order to represent the accommodation by varying the pressure of the liquid in the liquid lens, the elastic membrane skin being deformed.
