S-shaped bridge makes£250m connection

The Finzels Reach development in the centre of Bristol has had a chequered past. Occupying a salient of land created by a meander in the original course of the River Avon, the site has reflected the city's industrial history. The site was once home to the Finzels sugar refinery - England's largest for a time - before accommodating a brewery and power station for the city's trams.
