New office schemes in London drop by half

The rate of office starts in London fell by 50 per cent in the six months to 30 September, Deloitte Real Estate's crane survey has found.The firm found that just 2.6 million square feet of new office space construction started across the capital during the period.Deloitte Real Estate partner and head Siobhan Godley said: "This is down significantly on our previous survey, but remainsbroadly in line with the survey's long-term average. Notably, a higher-than-average 40 per cent of new construction starts have already been pre-let, indicating less speculative construction."
