Mace boss: turnover will rebound to £2bn in 2021

Mace's revenue will rebound and top £2bn next year, according to chief executive Mark Reynolds. The firm's construction division, which has shrunk relative to Mace's other businesses, is expecting a growth boost next year, partly thanks to new data-centre jobs. "We're going to grow in 2021 back to £2.1bn," he said. "We've got a secured order book today, for next year, of over 70 per cent. So we're in a very strong position for 2021." Mace's turnover hit an all-time high of £2.35bn in 2018, in part due to a number of large data-centre projects. It fell to £1.78bn in 2019 but was expected to bounce back to around £2.1bn in 2020. The impact of the coronavirus derailed this plan and cut the group's revenue by around 20 per cent to about £1.7bn.
