Construction post-virus: modern, modular and more collaborative

Mark Farmer set the industry a challenge four years ago, to change the way it worked - yet it has taken a pandemic to make our sector really move forward. Modern methods of construction (MMC) and, more specifically, modular construction, have been vital in the delivery of hospitals this year and the numbers speak for themselves: 25 per cent shaved off the cost and a reduction in the delivery schedule by a similar amount for buildings that would have taken much longer to construct. It is highly unlikely that the NHS, seeing the resulting metrics from these projects will, in the future, be approaching suppliers with requests to go back to the old way of working.
