A flat month across the North East saw the top 10 hit £1.03bn in total contract wins - a slight 0.3 per cent dip compared with the year to April. Sir Robert McAlpine remained well out ahead of the chasing pack, with Tolent skipping past Esh - which fell to fourth - to take second place. Royal Bam was the only new entry, in sixth. As with its eastern counterpart, the total for the North West remained still, with the region recording a 0.3 per cent increase compared with the year to April. Kier leapfrogged Willmott Dixon for a small lead, with Bam back some way in third. Laing O'Rourke entered the table in fourth, while McAlpine was another new entry in 10th.
