MPs: Make firms pay for cladding

The £lbn fund for the recladding of buildings covered in combustible materials should be drastically increased and the costs recovered from contractors, architects and product manufacturers, a group of MPs has said. The Housing, Communities and Local Government select committee said the government's £lbn cladding fund would only cover a third of what is needed to remediate the 1,700 buildings above 18 meters in height that require the removal of combustible materials. In a new report, it called for an extension to the fund, but said its costs should be recovered from private firms.
