Balfour Beatty US Air Force payments halted

The US Air Force has suspended its payment of incentive fees to Balfour Beatty, according to news agency Reuters. The move came a week after the firm launched an investigation into allegations that staff at the company's US real estate subsidiary falsified maintenance records on military-housing. Reuters reported that Balfour would not receive management incentive fees,worth in the region of $4.3m (£3.4m),at the 21 military housing bases operated by Balfour Beatty Communities at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma until it provided the Air Force with an independent review of its maintenance and work-order processes, and ensured they met all of its requirements. The news-agency report claimed the Air Force had stopped payments across all of the sites operated by the UK firm after "new allegations" regarding claims of improper handling of maintenance records emerged at another base,Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho.
