Constructing Futures: Industry Leaders and Futures Thinking in Construction

This book looks at the future of the UK construction industry through the somewhat unusual approach of using 'life history methodology' as a way to understand the values and motivations of 15 leading and influential figures, and how their motivations contribute to the way they think about-and also thereby influence-the future of that industry. In their introductory comments, die authors indicate that they were themselves motivated by their perception of a 'disconnection' between, on the one hand, the somewhat 'objectivized' future scenarios for the industry produced in many reports by expert panels and, on the other, those who are directly concerned with daily operational issues in construction.
