Standards rarely get pulses racing among the general public, and even in the construction sector, the people deeply involved with their development are relatively few and far between. Among practitioners in the industry, knowledge of what standards are is patchy at best and few people could tell you the difference between a harmonised and non-harmonised standard with any degree of precision.
