A holistic approach

The past few years have seen more and more companies offering some kind of machine monitoring service to help their customers know when there are maintenance issues, or other problems with the running of their machines. In the UK, Caterpillar dealer Finning launched its take on this technology, Finsight, earlier this year. According to Finsight manager Lucy Couturier, "What is different to the competition is how we put it together." She was keen to point out that Finsight is not just a data monitoring system, but rather "a holistic approach, offering solutions from 360° analysis, and recommending what to do." She added, "It's about lowering total owning and operating costs to maximise performance and productivity. And you can sell the machine more easily at the end if it has been monitored."
