Tunnel slipforming

A Gomaco Commander Ill slipformer was used to pave the floor and walkway of a 7km tunnel in the Schnecktal valley area in Germany. A joint venture team led by German contractor Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau constructed the Finne Tunnel, and once the tunnel boring operation was completed, the focus shifted to the interior. The Commander III machine first paved the tunnel floor in four-track mode. Then, it was converted on-site to a three-track paver to slipform the tunnel's walkway.
