Extra long reach for lake

Contractor Sarrazy, which is owned by Colas Sud-Ouest, bought a super long front Hitachi excavator to get where some other excavators couldn't on two sites in Bordeaux, France. The Hitachi super long front ZX350LC-3 was used to dig to a depth of 5m, removing 70,000 tonnes of raw materials from beneath a man-made lake. At a second location in Queyrac - which processes 30,000 tonnes of aggregate annually - it excavated to a depth of 9m. Hitachi said the machine's 18m front attachment was ideal for working under the water and then loading Sarrazy's fleet of articulated dump trucks. However, the company has recently ordered a Hitachi ZW220 wheel loader, which will take over this task.
