Machinery Directive - no need to overregulate

The European Commission (EC) is expected to publish the proposal for the revision of the legislation on Machinery in March 2021.The Directive 2006/42/EC promotes the free movement of machinery within the single market and guarantees a high level of protection for EU workers and citizens. It only applies to products that are to be placed on the EU market for the first time. The intention is to improve safety levels further and take account of increasingly digitalised processes. For construction equipment manufacturers, the directive has a strong impact on their way of doing business. It effects the process of selling, informing the end-user, performing tests and the conformity assessment procedure of the equipment. Any change will have a massive impact on those processes.
