Keeping the muscles of construction equipment in shape involves more than regular workouts. Modern hydraulic systems have greatly improved the efficiency of heavy equipment in the 40 years since they were first introduced. Despite the increased sophistication of these systems, though, jobsite dirt and moisture can invade components. The resulting damage can force costly repairs and downtime—unless, of course, those involved with fleet maintenance make regular hydraulic inspection, repair and replacement an integral component of their preventive maintenance programs.
