The Flexar guided wave radar level sensor from Monitor Technologies is now available in a version with 4-20mA analog output. This allows the unit to be interfaced with most existing DCS or PLC setups. Flexar is a real-time, continuous bin level measurement system. Guided wave radar technology has proved successful for most powder and bulk solids applications, including dusty materials such as cement powder and flyash, said Monitor Technologies. The time for the pulse to be reflected back to the instrument electronics is directly related to the empty distance in the vessel and the material level. The real-time measurement ability of the Flexar works well for dynamic storage situations like concrete batch plants, said the company.
