In 1938, R. G. LeTourneau introduced the Tournapull, the world's first single-axle, rubber-tired prime mover. The Tournapull was originally intended to pull scrapers. The name came into use for LeTourneau and LeTourneau-Westinghouse motor scrapers, but it was also used with an amazing variety of other attachments, which this author has informally dubbed "Tournattachments." These attachments and the scrapers were marketed as being fully interchangeable. Here are four of over 30 known attachments for Tournapulls. Tournacranes: The Tournacrane was originally developed for use with crawler tractors, but was adapted for use with Tournapulls. Many models of these cranes were bui some were large enough to pick up crashed or disabled military aircraft.
