Instead of standing pat, making a move to co-brand, or perhaps an even bolder move to combine as one entity to offer a full line of equipment in North America in the style of Cat, Deere, or Case, Doosan has elected to further separate itself from Bobcat. Essentially, the two short-line manufacturers, one well known here-the other a massive name in South Korean and international business striving for any and all awareness in the U.S.-are going to stay that way. Doosan, which markets excavators, wheel loaders, material handlers, and ADTs in North America, has literally moved away from Doosan Bobcat, the Fargo, N.D.-based maker of skid steer loaders, CTLs, and compact excavators created by Doosan's purchase of Bobcat in 2007.
